Billy Bowlegs claims territory for IRC and partners

Indian Chief Billy Bowlegs was an important figure of the Seminole Tribe in Florida during the Second Seminole War and was the remaining Seminole’s most prominent chief during the Third Seminole War.

Breeder Rennie Price of Wicklow Stud cleverly named a young colt by Galileo stallion The United States in honour of Billy Bowlegs and he won for the IRC and partners over 1600m at Turffontein on Sunday, recommended to our Members as an eachway bet at 7-1, eventually going off at 10s.

“I was in the right place at the right time for this one,” said Joao Da Mata, who believes Billy Bowlegs will win a few more races. “We’d done a deal with a former IRC runner called Sikhulu with owner Preggy Preggie Somasundram and there was an exchange of shares, so we acquired a good share of Billy Bowlegs and he races in partnership with Laura De Haast and Sitha Govender.

“He finished 10th of 15 in a very strong race behind rising star Thunderstruck first time out but trainer Alec Laird actually liked him to run in the money. But he had a boil in his mouth and raced green, a run that we ignored and also paying consideration to the strength of the field. The race had already produced five winners from behind Thunderstruck including the highly-regarded Quantum Theory.”

Joao interviewed Laird before the race, and several other trainers since, and we’re publishing these interviews on our Premium Access Channel on Telegram, which is now free to all – just click on this link and join us, we’ll add information as often as possible.

Our UK trainer Tony Carroll remains in fine form and his information is astoundingly good. Last Tuesday he had two runners in a six-horse race at Brighton, our Poetic Force (5-1) and Fieldsman (11/4) and he advised Members in a voice message: “Both horses are in good form. I think they will run first and second, with preference for Fieldsman.”

Result: Fieldsman won from Poetic Force and the Forecast, advised in our Members’ Section, paid a healthy £16.44. (STOP PRESS; Also today’s 40-1 winner Kingsmead Krystal at Greyville).

Carroll has entered our other in-form stalwart Winnetka for Sunday’s meeting at Windsor – we’ll keep you posted.

CARROLL FORECAST: Fieldsman (Mollie Phillips) wins from Poetic Force.
