IRC Q&A: Rob Hersov

ROB Hersov, a billionaire entrepreneur who sold a business to the world’s greatest investor, Warren Buffet, has decided to return home to South Africa after living abroad for decades.

Hersov revealed recently that he and businessman Nick Ferguson bought Fisantekraal Airport, located half-way between the Cape Town CBD and Paarl, and that they want to build the ‘Lanseria’ of Cape Town there, to be renamed ‘Cape Winelands Airport’.
Lanseria, for our readers outside of South Africa, is the fastest growing airport in Africa, situated about 50km west of Johannesburg in a country district, but serving fast increasing air traffic demand from the region and overseas.

Hersov is the chairman and chief executive of Invest Africa – a platform that connects Africa with members in New York, Washington, London, Dubai, Geneva, and Johannesburg.Hersov has worked with numerous successful businessmen, including media mogul Rupert Murdoch and South African billionaire Johann Rupert.He is also a successful international entrepreneur in his own right. He has, among other things, built a successful private jet business which he sold to Warren Buffett.
