Promising win by Climate Control!

We expected him to win sooner, but he’s done it now – Climate Control got his Maiden win behind him at Turffontein on Thursday with a game run over 1600m, defeating promising filly National Star after a 300m-tussle in which he had to work hard to keep her at bay. (From Mike De Kock Racing)

There was merit in this – National Star ran our highly thought-of Shoemaker to 0.30-lengths here recently, so the form stood up and there are collateral lines to be drawn which bodes well for Climate Control.

“He’s a sound, tough horse and we’ll take him to Durban now,” said Mike de Kock. “We’ve been looking for the mile at Turffontein for him as he has shown that this will be his minimum trip, and the blinkers also helped.  He had to go early on the turn and applied pressure, he had the stamina.”

Climate Control continued a good run of success for Joao Da Mata’s International Racing Club, who have had 11 successive runs in the money since joining us, including three winners.

Climate Control, a Wilgerbosdrift-bred by Ideal World, races for the IRC in partnership with Mike, Blaine Hamilton, Gino Da Silva and Steve Sturlese. Mike also trained his useful dam, Aircon.
